It’s been a little longer than I would have hoped since I wrote. That’s because January has been crazy, and we’re only halfway through!

Sohrab and I went to CES last week, driving north to Vegas on Monday the 6th and driving home to LA on Saturday the 11th. We stayed at Circus Circus, as we have each year since 2011 (since the Sahara closed after our first year at CES…). We learn something new every year we go, and this year wasn’t without its hitches. Sohrab got sick near the end, and he’s still battling a cold and finally getting his voice back (a process that he’s likened to puberty all over again…lol). I’ve had back pain since Thursday night, and it’s nothing to laugh at. It’s pretty darn painful. Sad pandas. The show itself was fantastic – we enjoyed scouring the Sony booth for the newest technology (and our next TV… :D) for SonyRumors.net, and test driving BMW’s newest addition to their lineup, the all-electric i3. We both really enjoyed the car and we look forward to getting to drive it again sometime.

But this post isn’t about cars, and it’s not about CES. Honestly, CES is just the reason why I haven’t posted here for a little while. Escrow didn’t stop, though. We signed a few things while we were in Vegas. The real world stops for no one!

Things have changed a little bit in the past couple of days, in some ways for the better. We’re moving along healthily through escrow, though our wrists are getting a little tired from signing so many papers! I found out on Monday that our official escrow close date would be January 22nd, which would be next Wednesday. However, today, Jamal sent us a form to sign – a request for extension of escrow. Because the seller has yet to deal with the termites (yes, there are a couple little places where they’ve invaded), and perhaps a few other things, we’ll be in escrow until January 31st. I’m slightly disappointed, because it was exciting to think that we’d be homeowners in a week. It’s no big deal, though. We’ll still be homeowners – it will just take a few more days. It’s kind of like the outlook some people have on weddings – you’ll be married at the end of the day, and that’s what matters. In the end, for us, we’ll be homeowners. And that’s what matters.

Today has been the day of paperwork. Not that there’s been any shortage of it up until now, but today we have signed three separate documents – 2 short, 1 long. 41 pages long, to be exact. That long one was the disclosure papers. We still have a couple questions, so we haven’t sent it in quite yet. That being said, we’ve been trying very hard to stay on top of things. As soon as we get paperwork, we get started on signing as soon as possible. Escrow is not the time to procrastinate.

So I should get back to it. The end is in sight (or is it the beginning?), so we’ll just have to keep swimming! 🙂
