It’s been a whirlwind few days. On Tuesday, December 17th, we saw the condo for the first time. We decided to put in an offer that night. By Thursday, December 19th, we had received a counter offer. We had until 5 pm on Saturday, December 21st to accept or continue to negotiate.
But you knew all that!
As we went to sleep on Friday night, Sohrab surprised me with the most wonderful news. He had been working numbers all day to ensure that everything was in its place – and I was hoping that we’d be able to move forward pending that information. He told me that night that we wouldn’t be submitting any paperwork on Saturday… because he had already sent in our acceptance! Perhaps it was a bit early, because we still have a few hoops to jump through before we get the keys, but I am excited that we have gotten this far, and that we will be opening escrow tomorrow, Monday, December 23rd.
But, like I said, there are hoops.
Not only is the escrow 30 days long, but we also have 10 days until the inspection contingency runs out, and 17 days until the loan contingency runs out. With this and all of our holiday plans, we will be a busy pair!
Speaking of holiday plans, my sister will be arriving tonight from college for Christmas. She’ll be staying at my parents’ house, and she’ll be around until January 11th. Fortunately, despite everyone’s crazy schedules, we will have a few good opportunities to see each other. Sohrab’s sister will arrive this upcoming Saturday, December 28th, with her husband, to spend time with family for the holidays, as well as go to the Rose Bowl on January 1st. I’m really looking forward to being surrounded by family, but oh man. This will be a crazy month. Not to mention that we’ll be heading to Las Vegas for a week for CES starting January 5th!
We have a busy month ahead of us, and my stomach churns with excitement and nerves just at the thought. The next big step is to make sure that we get the inspection done this week, and that we get started on the proper loan process. Here we go!
