If you’ve already had the chance to read my post for Blogtober day one, you know that I’m a bit of a word nerd. That comes out in a million different ways – from learning languages to collecting typewriters.
Yes – typewriters!
I got my first two typewriters on the same day – as birthday gifts from my then-boyfriend (Sohrab!) and parents. It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. My collection quickly grew, and I can now boast about my many typewriters, from the Dial typewriter I can hold in one hand to the Underwood editor’s typewriter that isn’t meant to move, it’s so heavy.
But I have to say – my favorite might just be the one that Sohrab got me all those years ago. It’s a light brown Smith-Corona Silent-Super portable typewriter from 1955 (the same year Disneyland opened!), and I use it every day.
Why?
Well, my love for words and typewriters inspired me to open an Etsy store that married the two with minimal, modern/vintage typewritten quotes – friends, meet Letters With Impact.
Here’s a little bit of backstory on LWI:
Letters With Impact was founded on the love of typewriters. The realization that these machines were invented in a time where there was no expectation – with so many variations and reaping so many different results – drew me closer to this unique world.
