Rabbit Rabbit | May Day
They say April showers bring May flowers, and while it hasn’t rained much in LA in the past month, I think I understand what “they” mean. read more…
“Purple Rane” – My Multi-Colored Hair Adventures
Yesterday, I finally did something that I have been wanting to do for a long time.
I’ve scrolled through Pinterest for many hours, favoriting purple-haired pins left and right. I went through so many iterations of what I wanted: Did I want purple hair? Another color? No. Of course I want purple. And yet, I only dreamt of being so cool – so edgy – that I could walk confidently into my salon and request lavender locks. read more…
Cycling For a Cause – The Great Cycle Challenge
I don’t tend to need a reason or a cause to ride my bike. I crave it, and the only barrier to entry for me is getting the heck out of bed in the morning to actually go do it. But when a more-than-worthy cause arises, like the Great Cycle Challenge coming up in June, I can’t help but jump out of bed and into the saddle. There’s no better motivation! read more…

Eid Mubarak
I like to think of dates as opportunities to start anew. January 1st. My birthday. The first day of Spring.
Today is not just the Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere.
Today is Eid: the Persian New Year. Traditionally celebrated at the very minute the Spring Equinox occurs (in today’s case, at 3:28 AM PST), my family opted to get together for an Eid dinner. There’s something about 3:30 in the morning that just doesn’t quite inspire celebration. read more…

Uninspired
What do you write about when you can’t find any words to describe what you want to write about?
I’ve stumbled into the new year. Things are looking up, life is going really well. Is happiness not inspiring? Am I only poetic when my world is spinning slower? I’ve hardly been home, and even when I have been, it certainly hasn’t been normal. Over the past month, it feels like Sohrab and I have been out of state more often than in. Technically that’s not true, but even a short trip can feel longer than it really is. read more…
Connecting With Millennials (Or, Why It Feels Like I Have No Friends)
Sometimes it takes getting out of your “place” to realize how it truly affects you. That happened to me last night as Sohrab and I sat in our 26th floor Las Vegas hotel room for CES 2017. I realized how incredibly lonely I have become in Los Angeles.
I want to talk to you guys about friendship. I have this problem, and it grows with every passing day. I feel like I might have no friends. read more…
17 Ways to Prep for 2017
A new year is a fresh start. That’s why, with just a few more days to go until 2016 finally goes up in smoke, I wanted to breathe and take a moment to truly realize the potential of starting over with the new year.
So many of us can agree that 2016 was a rough year. I intend to seize the opportunity to learn from this year, swooping into 2017 with a triumphant song. read more…
